In early 2018, I joined Hacker Paradise and headed to Florianópolis, Brazil 🇧🇷—known to locals as “Floripa.” Originally, I planned to stay for just one month, but after experiencing the island’s amazing beaches, hikes, and nature, I couldn’t bring myself to leave.
Floripa has over 40 beaches, each one offering its own unique vibe, and the island is packed with scenic trails that take you through lush greenery with incredible ocean views. So, I extended my stay to two months and fully embraced the island life.
I spent my time working from some amazing locations, including this glass hut right on the beach that quickly became one of my favorite spots. Between client work, I’d go for swims, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy the view of the waves crashing nearby. The setting was as productive as it was inspiring—ideal for finding balance between work and relaxation.
Floripa’s nature is a paradise for outdoor lovers, and I spent countless days hiking the island’s coastal trails. These epic beach hikes offered incredible views, winding through dense forests and opening up to secluded beaches. Each trail felt like an adventure, and the best part was being able to dive into the ocean at the end of a hike to cool off.
With warm weather and calm waters, night swims became a favorite activity. There’s something surreal about swimming under the stars in the quiet of night—it was the perfect way to end long days of work and exploration.
One of the best parts of my stay in Floripa was the people I met. I ended up spending a lot of time with locals who showed me hidden spots and taught me more about Brazilian culture. From beachside BBQs to late-night hangouts, I got a true taste of the Floripa lifestyle.
With over 40 beaches on the island, I couldn’t resist exploring as many as I could. Each beach had its own personality, from lively beach bars to tranquil spots tucked away from the crowds. Floripa’s beaches are stunning, and every new location felt like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

Florianópolis turned out to be one of the most memorable stops on my digital nomad journey. The island offered everything I needed: natural beauty, great company, and a perfect mix of productivity and adventure.
