While staying at Outsite Encinitas, one of my housemates suggested I’d love Austin, Texas if I was thinking about a home base in the U.S. She told me it had a fantastic entrepreneurial vibe and a strong marketing scene, so after two months in California, I decided to check it out.
I booked a stay at Outsite Austin and headed east, excited to explore the city and its buzzing business community.
The Outsite Austin house was the ideal place to settle in, with a great setup for working and meeting fellow nomads. The city’s energy, combined with Outsite’s comfortable environment, made it easy to dive into the local scene while staying productive.
Austin is known for its outdoor, active lifestyle, and I quickly got into the spirit by joining a local running club. It was a fun way to explore the city and meet some great people who I’m still friends with today.
One of Austin’s unique attractions for entrepreneurs is the Internet Marketing Party, a monthly gathering of marketers and business owners that’s both a networking event and a party. It’s one of the best ways to connect with like-minded professionals, and the laid-back, social vibe made it a highlight of my Austin stay.
With family in town, I got to spend time doing classic Austin activities: exploring the river, visiting the LINE Hotel, and even dropping by my cousin’s office at Facebook. Austin’s warm weather was a nice bonus, and despite the summer heat, I enjoyed the active, health-conscious culture that the city embraces.
I also used my time in Austin to gear up for HubSpot’s INBOUND conference. The city’s energy, combined with time to network and meet other entrepreneurs, was the perfect lead-up to one of the biggest marketing events of the year.
Overall, Austin’s entrepreneurial spirit, friendly community, and outdoor lifestyle made a strong impression on me. From networking at events like the Internet Marketing Party to exploring the city’s healthy, active culture, there was no shortage of opportunities to connect, work, and unwind. For anyone looking for a vibrant city with a thriving business scene, Austin should definitely be on your list.
